Logan Square Farmers’ Market

The Logan Square Farmers’ Market shook free of city control this year­—which means that in addition to organic and sustainably farmed veggies, flowers, meat, and eggs it can also sell foods prepared on-site, like barbecued chicken from Lula and (once a month) pulled-pork sandwiches and nachos from the Galewood Cookshack. Now managed by the neighborhood chamber of commerce, the market runs Sundays through October from 10 AM to 3 PM on the southeast corner of Milwaukee and Logan Boulevard. It has 15 regular vendors, including the Chicago Honey Co-op and Golden Rise Bakery, and is used as a drop point for CSA deliveries by three farms (Cedar Valley, Montalbano, and M’s Organic); it’s also the first farmers’ market in the state to accept food stamps.
